Vascular Doctor - May 21, 2013:
In response to a growth in Grandma's Abdominal Aortic Aneurism (AAA), she was recommended to a vascular surgeon. They did a simple ultrasound, then the doctor came in to talk with us.
First off: the AAA is only 3.9mm in diameter. That's not all that concerning. As far as the rate of growth: it was 3.6mm in 2010. So the rate of expansion isn't that great.
Now, the doctor did note - as had been noted before during an ER trip - that Grandma's blood pressure was high. So he prescribed a blood pressure medication that she's taking now, and recommended an aspirin regimen.
Lastly, he asked to see her again in a year. You can see how worried about it he is when he doesn't need to see her again for 12 months. So she's doing very well on that account.
